For the first of today’s collage journal share, I bring you this Amazonian woman:
I had the image of the kicking woman in my stash and thought it would add a fun touch to a collage. I pictured her kicking her leg over a building. I ended up using the image of the moped riders weaving their way through a narrow city street for the background. In order to position the woman on my collage, I had to cut around the front moped. I then glued down part of the background image before adhering the woman. Finally I glued the moped over the woman’s leg.
For my second collage, I turned to one of my faves – curtains.
I wanted to find the right image to frame against the drapes. I immediately gravitated towards this image from a secondhand book on Hollywood. The head shot pose of the actress, Lara Flynn Boyle, was screaming to be framed. Given the star quality image, I thought adding fireworks to the background was a no-brainer.
A part of the drapes had printed text, and I needed a way to cover it up. So I colored over the text with my gold paint pen, which blended well with the golden brown color of the drapes.
The drapes had fringe edges, which I was able to cut around to remove anything that was peaking through. However, the fringe at the top had bright white sunlight peaking through. It proved too difficult to trim away all of the white background, so I decided to cover the fringe with a piece of gold Dresden trim.
That’s it for this week. Until next time, have a great weekend!
