In light of the just completed Summer Olympic Games, I am a bit late with today’s collage journal pages, which all have sports-related themes.
We begin with the all-time greatest Olympian, Michael Phelps. I got this underwater image of the swimmer from an old calendar and decided to add some sharks that I got from a National Geographic magazine. People like to ask of Phelps, “What’s next?” Well after winning all those Olympic medals, I guess one thing he hasn’t attempted yet is to swim with the great whites.
The background image is from the 2010 World Series at AT&T Park in San Francisco. I thought the unfurled American flag looked like a trampoline, so I went with that idea by adding the two figures – one with her head down and the other jumping up in the air.
The women swimmers floating on their backs were tiny images that I normally wouldn’t use in a collage, but when I saw the image of the young man diving off the cliff, I thought they would be the perfect additions to the picture.
I am not an athlete, but if I had to pick among swimming, trampolining, and diving – all of which were Olympic sports – I would pick trampolining. What about you? Which sport would you choose?
